After being dropped from Sony the band thought about breaking up and decided why bother. They recorded this classic ep over a couple of days with the intention of getting something out to prove they were still around. It was totally ignored by the radio that had for years supported them but sold the same number of copies that the typical Sony single had sold anyway.

Only the first two tracks were new. Dazed had been recorded twice prior to this and hadn't made it onto disc on either occasion. Lisa was recorded for the Sold album with Brett Myers singing but was never released.

Died Pretty are happy to announce the release of their new ep Deeper with their original label, Citadel Records. Although not officially announced at the time, the band parted company with Sony Music earlier this year soon after the release of their last album Sold. The separation was amicable and had been anticipated. Just the finish to another chapter in what has been a long and varied career.

If anything the break has invigorated and strengthened the group. After years of the fixed routine of major record company recording ethos in conjunction with a palaver of promotion and accompanying touring the band has come full circle. They can now concentrate on what they do best rather than fulfilling the commercial expectations of others.

Deeper was produced and mixed over three days by Wayne Connolly with the band at Paradise and Charing Cross Studios. It showcases all that has made the band and its songwriters so acclaimed and respected over the years. The band themselves are more than happy with the results.

You Need Wings, the ep opener, swings along with an up sixties feel of Byrds like guitar sounds and harmonies from Brett Myers. Also featured on this track is vocalist Ron Peno's first instrumental outing on the harmonica with some fine back up given by Hoodoo Guru Brad Shepherd at the song's end. Stones In The Park reflects a more pensive state and is underpinned by John Hoey's lush keyboards. Dazed, originally slated for release on Sold, is classic Died Pretty pop and highlights the strength of the rhythm section of bassist Robert Warren and new drummer Simon Cox. The closing track Lisa captures a perfect feeling of malaise and yet another side to the group.
