Album Press Release (July 1996)

Sometimes things are so good that you don't need to tell anyone. Special things speak for themselves. Plenty of people make pop music but there are only a handful who really know how to make it tick.

Enter Dom Mariani. For those who came in late, Dom's been in Australian pop music's pole position for the better part of a decade. With stints as the creative maestro behind such acts as The Stems and The Someloves, Dom has packed music lovers into venues across the land and inspired a whole league of potential guitarists and songwriters hoping to emulate the achievements of an outstanding Australian songsmith.

The latest step in Mariani's career is DM Three, a band who have impressed many Perth punters with their infectious live performances and whose reputation is already making big noises on the other side of the country. DM Three continues the grand traditions of Mariani's past, but does far more than merely repeat it. Their first single, Foolish, has provided a taste of what DM Three are all about - dashing pop melodies surrounded by a sandwich of crunching guitars and intelligent licks. When put in the live scenario the results are every bit as good as you would expect.

Very soon DM Three will be releasing their debut album One Time Two Times Three Red Light, a collection of 12 alluring, yet thoroughly pumping pop tracks. Lending an expert mixing hand to an excellent set of songs is Mitch Easter, producer of such luminaries as REM, The Someloves and The Hummingbirds. The result? Great songs with a great sound. The kind that could one day serve as a sound-track to "the best days of your life."   (Bob Gordon)
